During the holiday season, IWOH brings hope and comfort to women in shelters by donating purses filled with essential items. Many women fleeing domestic violence leave behind personal belongings in their rush to safety. From October through November, IWOH collects new and gently used purses, filling them with toiletries, sanitary supplies, and small gifts. These thoughtful bags are distributed to women’s shelters across Fulton, DeKalb, and Gwinnett counties.
Each purse also includes a token of encouragement and scriptures such as Isaiah 41:10: “Fear not, for I am with you.” These messages of faith remind women they are not alone during this challenging time.
For mothers with children in the shelters, IWOH ensures no child is left out. Through a partnership with Toys for Tots, every child receives a toy, spreading holiday cheer to the youngest members of these families.
